Check out of the Miyako Hotel Kyoto Hachijo and from Kyoto Station board a Hikari bullet train to Shinagawa Station. (2.5 hrs) Your accommodation at the Shinagawa Prince Hotel is a two minute walk from the Takanawa Exit of the station. Shinagawa is the ideal place to stay for its convenient access to a wide range of restaurants and shops. Shinagawa Station is a major stop on the JR Yamanote Line loop system which circumnavigates Tokyo.

After check in return to JR Shinagawa Station and board a local JR Yamanote Line to Kanda Station. (13 min) At Kanda Station, change trains to a Ginza Subway line train to Asakusa. (10 min) Please note that you need to use your Pasmo Card to board the Ginza Subway train. From Asakusa Station, walk to the nearby Sensoji Temple also known as the Asakusa Kannon Temple - Tokyo's oldest and most impressive temple founded in the 7th century. Explore Nakamise Street, a colourful shopping promenade that stretches from the Kaminarimon Gate to Hozomon Gate. Many souvenir and craft shops sell everything from kimonos to traditional sweets. Positioned across the road from Kaminarimon Gate are the Asakusa Rickshaws for an opportunity to be guided around the area by rickshaw.

In the evening, make your way to Ueno and the Ameyoko Ueno Markets. From Asakusa Station, board a Ginza Subway line train to Ueno Station. (5 min) Walk over to the Ameyoko Markets which is across the street from Ueno Station. The long market lanes run from JR Ueno Station to JR Okachimachi Station. This area has over 500 shops that sell everything from basic foods to high-class imported goods at reasonable prices, and is always crowded with shoppers.

Return to your hotel in the evening by boarding a JR Yamanote line train to Shinagawa Station.
